NIPOGA 2020 hosts win 2, lose 2 as group matches get underway

Group stage matches in the 14 sports events at the 2020 Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA) began on Monday in Ilorin.

In the male handball event, hosts Kwara State Polytechnic beat Federal Polytechnic Ede 34-23, while in the event’s female category, the hosts mauled Federal Polytechnic Mubi 28-8.

In male basketball, Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) of Lagos defeated Kwara State Polytechnic 33-29.

In male volleyball, Federal Polytechnic Offa also defeated Kwara State Polytechnic in two straight sets.

On their part in the same event, Kogi State Polytechnic beat Uzoro Polytechnic of Delta 2-0 while HAFED Polytechnic of Kazaure also beat Yabatech 2-0.

It was reports that the Games which started on Wednesday has no fewer than 3,040 athletes from 51 institutions featuring.

The Games which is in its 20th edition is expected to end on Sunday.
